what do i do if i suspect this has happend? does anyone know of any sample correspondence i can use? please include step by step process on how to fix this...thanks

Answer:
There are 2 types of re-aging¡.
A)Legal: only the ORIGINAL CREDITOR may re-age an depiction. The OC may legally re-age an account during times of adversity etc. See FDIC under re-aging for further explanation.
B)Illegal: This typically applies to COLLECTION AGENCIES. CA¡¯s typically re-age accounts listed near the consumer credit bureaus. This occurs when they report on your credit report newer dates than what the actual date is. This allows the cynical information to stay on the credit report longer than allowed by the FCRA (fair credit reporting act)

I¡¯m going to go with the assumption that the re-aging have taken place on your credit reports. You may call the credit reporting agency (although it¡¯s better to submit in writing to form a thesis trail) to inquire what the ¡°FCRA Compliance Date¡± is that is reported on each explanation in question. Make sure to report the CRA that you want information and that you are not making a dispute. If you choose to call; record the call for, if possible and allowed in your state. If both the CA and OC are reporting next ask for the dates of both.

I wish you luck and I advocate you to read the links given for further explanation.
The reaging of a collection account is a legal tactic used by debt collectors to re-up the statue of limitations on aformentioned tale. The basically made a payment on your behalf within order to gain more time to collect the debt or sue you for the money by way of a judgement or wage garnishment.

Best proposal pay the past due debt or settle it beside a third party servicer.
