Get a visa or mastercard, not retail credit statement. In fact capture 2 visa's or mastercards. Only spend 35% of the max credit limit ever. Always compensate on time. Once you've have both accounts for a year.If you can afford a different type of credit such as a car loan, go and get that. Otherwise, avoid retail credit. Good luck.

Answers: If you are a person who don't close to to have any debts except, you can do what I did.
(Starting from no history.)
- Get a secured credit card. ($500 deposit, $39 annual payment - depends on the bank)
- make the cell phone bill auto-paid by that credit card, and use checking to recompense that Credit Card as your cell phone bill, or even better: auto-transfer payment to take-home pay that credit card from checking. (To keep accomplishments going for the card)
- lock the phyical card in safty box.
- Within 1 year, you will grasp lots of letters roughly pre-approved credit card. Get another credit card with the largest credit row from well specified bank. (Don't close the old-fashioned one yet.)
- Put the another utility or doesn`t matter what bill auto-paid by that credit card, and pay it as your bill.
- lock the phyical card within safty box.
In 2 years, you will have nearly 720 on credit score, and polite enough for your to go and get a good rate on mortgage.
** Remember not to apply for any other loan bar those 2, or close any card before you obtain a mortgage. It will lower your score.
A good route to start building your credit history is to learn from others mistakes. The most impressive advice I can bequeath you is not to add any expense or debt if you cannot make the payments.
