A business owes me about 5,000GBP and have been slow to repay. They promise to pay, but are newly taking a long time.

What is the time limit to START a CCJ claim? 6 months, 12 months? from when the debt be payable. whats ccj
The Limitations Act 1980 outlines the time limit in which a creditor can chase a debtor for outstanding debts. The Limitations Act 1980 only applies when no contact have been made between the creditor and debtor inside the given time limit and just applies to residents of England and Wales.
Creditors are given a fixed period of time to chase their debtors, which is outlined within the Limitations Act 1980. The time scale for the most part depends on the type of debt and can be extended at the courts discretion. The time limit begin when you last admit owing the money or made a payment.
Should the creditor backfire to maintain contact next to the debtor, for a period of 6 years or more, it is possible to claim that the outstanding debt is "Statute Barred" beneath the conditions of the Limitations Act 1980. 6 months, thank god! I would go next to 6 months, well if truth be told if a business owes you 5,000 GBP, you should have gotten your money a great deal sooner cause they are simply taking advantage of you, by thinking that they can hand over you the money whenever they want.

So be honest with you, you should shift get the 5,000 GBP right in a minute. \(o_o)/ 6 Years simply.
Unless you're on very dignified wages, I would recommend contacting local high-street solicitor under legal-aid.
If you're not eligible name your local citizen advice bureau.

You can sue for an unpaid debt in UK up to 6 years from the date the debt become due.The due date for the debt is the date specified in the invoice for payoff. After that has passed you can issue a County Court summons.Promises to earnings after the due date do not alter the legal timescale.

I don't know what a CCJ claim is. I am guessing that is a labor possession and is akin to an unpaid wage. If so, most states provide for treble damages if the wage debt is not paid contained by the pay cycle.
