Stolen wall checks? Some of my stuff was stolen over 2 years ago. My check

Some of my stuff was stolen over 2 years ago. My check book was among the stolen items. I didn't concern about the check book because it was for a closed guard account.

A few days ago I was contacted by a Police detective who asked my if I wrote a check for over $1000 to a party.

It seems that the person who stole my check book have decided to go to a liquer store and write a check to himself and manage to get over a $1000 from that store!

Here is where I get hold of confused:

1- How did he cash a check on a bank explanation that has been closed for over 2 years?

2- The detective told me that he might own gone to many places and pulled the same con using my ripened checks. How can I check and see if I have been black programmed because of the thief cashing my checks? Is there a website?

I live contained by California but am outside the country right now.

Answers:    I have be in your situation and it is a headache

Ok to answer your first question...
Check cashing places, bank, etc do not know upon cashing a check if the check issued is drawn from a closed account..they don't find out until the check is returned (so they could use a check from years ago and still get money) to them as information closed..which of course is unfortunate for the creature that is at loss..

To answer your second question..at hand are a variety of companies that keep info on "bad" checks that hold been written to merchants..the most widely used is Telecheck..

You can find out more at www.telecheck.com...once there you'll see info for First Data and click on Telecheck Consumer Information...I hold provided contacts from the website but I suggest you go as well because you may find more adjectives info

Here are a couple of contacts for them pertaining to specific situations:

In regards to your situation give the name the fraud number...also I would stongly suggest that every year you get your Telecheck report which would be Free annual file disclosure pursuant to the Fair Credit Reporting Act.it will contain "bad" checks that own been written in your nickname among other information..it's kinda like a credit report in a track so check it often because it could effect who will accept checks from you!

Hope I've help
The answer to the first question is that he cashed it at a liquor store, which has no thought whether the bank account is valid until the check is returned to them as a desperate check. It is the liquor stores loss. He evidently reported to the police.

You best bet is to check your credit report to alert them of the fraud.
