This is warning. more or less 3 years ago I helped my daughter out by purchasing a subscription through her conservatory to readers digest... approx. a year ago I asked them numerous times to revoke the subscription and not send any more.. they continued to convey books.. I sent them back along beside additional requests to revoke subscrition. Then we moved and the books stopped showing up even though we have our mail forwarded to our untried address so I asumed the subscription was cancelled and no more monies be owed..I just lately recieved a call from a collection agency on the subject of monies owed to Readers digest. I called reader digest to inquire and was told that I have to paythe bill. Please take this as a word to not subscribe to them because the will RIP YOU OFF! they are the worst company I have ever have the displeasure to deal near

I'm sorry to hear that.

I am curious though, did you ever call customer service and speak near a Representative to cancel?

That'd be give or take a few the only mode I'd trust canceling a subscription type item.

Plenty of other mail writ companies do that. I was once contacted by one I have stopped dealing with for lb50 they claimed I owed, when I have paid promptly, by cheque, and I have to get hill evidence that I had salaried them. This is a common problem. I hope you took this event further, since obviously you don't owe them a dime. There are customer organisations out at hand that will help.

Send a written memo to the Better Business Bureau. Call them first to know what to write and what to do. Do NOT pay the bill. When you dispatch the letter, dispatch a copy to Readers digest.

I did this once in a similar situation and won. Companies are frightened of being turned into the Better Business Bureau. In certainty, I have won twice-once by in reality turning the company in, and another time by threatening to do so.
