The original debtor may not want to do business with you any further. That's why they turned you over for collection. Try to work something out near the original debtor first though if you can.

Almost adjectives the info you have here is not correct. Collections agencies do not buy accounts, they work on a contingent starting place.

Some of the info is right. Once the account is assigned to a 3rd knees-up the original creditor does not enjoy the ability to negotiate any longer

You must business with the collection agency.

Here are some hints.

Do not share the collector that you are trying to buy something on credit (ie a house or car) and you need this to be salaried. This take away your leverage as they presently know that you HAVE to pay it and they don't own to take a settlement.

Simply enlighten them that you are trying to make accurate on your past mistakes and pinch care of your responsibilities.

Most agencies will pilfer a settlement offer, start low and they will counter, don't play too much or it will irritate them and later may just enunciate "forget it, pay it adjectives."

Good luck!! once your debt has be sold to a collection agency the original creditor is out of the pic. collection agencys buy your debt from the inventive creditor for a small percentage becasue the orginal creditor has given up on getting their money from you, so you can recurrently work out a better deal near a collection ageny anyway. good luck!!
It is always better to negotiate near original creditor, previously it goes to a collection agency. I disagree near icsowesmemoney.

I have help many ancestors deal next to creditors and collection agencies. I NEVER deal beside agencies.

Most of the time, creditors will work out a deal. There be times they said that I had to discuss to the agency (so they never got paid), and on two occasion the debt was sold to an agent so we have no choice.

What's funny about his answer is that some of the agencies will enlighten you they need to check next to the original creditor to see if they adopt the offer.

So contact the innovative creditor whenever possible. I have nonetheless to have contact with agents that be very successfull.
