More times then not, after you take home your deposit and you get the card, and your making your payments and not going over your credit line, the edge will grow with you.

Bank of America have a good secured card program. Generally it should unsecure in something like 9 to 12 months depending on if you keep the account contained by good standing.
BofA is a prime company, like AMEX as the previous poster recommended. Both companies will grow near you.
