I have an excessive amount of an overdraft all due to fees which stem from my famine of keeping the account balanced. Anyway it is 1400.00 over-today I am putting 300 into it-it wil travel to collections in 5 days then I own about a week to negotiate with them earlier it goes to chexsystems. My question is-do I attempt to scramble the rest of the money by the 5 days (might be possible) or do I hang about to negotiate with the collections company to maybe acquire the fees cut in half-would they even do this?-I know this is my responsibility I messed up but it would help right very soon to get some of the total fees reduced. thanks!

Answers:    you may be capable of get the fees waived if you negotiate directly next to the bank - bring money to the table, and try to settle. they don't really want to use collections, it is bad business. i would guess that you could seize 50% waived, but start by trying to settle for a $250 fee + any actual shortage. explain the situation, don't brand name the story long, just sincere.

they need to settle up the collections people a larger percentage anyway..and they will probably lose you as a customer.

When you are dealing with a edge I doubt that there will be any negotiating next to them. They want their money and they want it all.
