Hi, I am in India right in a minute. I have a US Brokerage Bank Account and get a Visa ATM Card from the same. Now I want to use my Card contained by Indian ATMs. Can someone guide me how to use it? I got three option when I enter my Card in SBI ATM here: 1. Credit 2. Current 3. Saving I click on Saving and it showed an error. So, only wanted to know what is the alternative that I have to choose if I want to withraw some money from it? Questions: 1. In what currency is the stability shown while enquiring my Balance? 2. Is there is any charge for enquiring Balance? 3. In what currency I ahve to input my ammount if I want to withraw some money form my card.
Answers: Most plausible. It would be Credit, then Current, after savings. Use an ATM that you can slide your card, this instrument the machine will not put away it. You may need to ring the Brokerage bank and ask them to initiate the card for international Transactions. Then ask them which to choose Credit, Savings or current. Current accounts are like are U.S. checking accounts. You will involve to find a an ATM that allows internationally withdraws. There conceivably a lower withdraw factor at some ATMs.
You can also, go to a US edge in India(Citibank or another) and do a Visa Cash Advance using your debit card. You will stipulation your passport for ID. They would be the most likely to permitted your card for cash advance or would be able to report to who would.
There will be fees for any of these methods, plus a currency conversion fee.
You should know how to use your card at the ATM as long as the machine have the visa logo. If your account is a hoard account, what you did should work. Any time I own used mine abroad, it give me the checking option, so I don't know exactly roughly speaking ones in India. As for the set off, I would suspect it will sow it in Indian currency, but I enjoy never checked mine abroad; I usually check it on-line. And whether in attendance is a charge depends on your bank, I guess. Mine charges a levy for using the ATM abroad, and also an international duty as well. You should own to input the local currency as well, the appliance is probably not going to be able to grant you US dollars, unless that is an route they have at hand.
Sorry to not be of much help. Good luck
