Hotel Marriott policies? I checked into the Courtyard Marriott a little while ago. I

I checked into the Courtyard Marriott a little while ago. I checked my credit card statement and they made a 100 charge on it and I didnt know. Its my first time to use my card and I merely turned 18. Is this right? Its only one dark that I am staying and i thought you pay after when you are departing?? I feel stupid asking but.. gotta do it
That is the mode hotels do it. Funny thing is that if you don't use a CC and don't put a financial guarantee deposit down, they never have a unreserved room available.
All hotels (and rental car companies and settle at the pump) put temporary holds on the card for what they estimate you might spend. This is to ensure that when you do pay that you haven't spent the money elsewhere.

The hold will drop past its sell-by date in a few days.

Answers:    It is an authorization hold. As a current Guest Services Representative for a Courtyard By Marriott and a former supervisor for a SpringHill Suites By Marriott I find this question repeatedly.

Don't feel stupid. You won't believe how various times a day I hold to answer this question for guests at work. I hold to admit. It could seize confusing if you don't know what is going on.

The authorization hold is placed on your card upon check in, and it is for your entire stay plus a predetermined amount for potential incidentals that you may incur. When you check out. The actual amount of your stay is posted and the remaining authorization hold falls stale on its own and you have zilch to worry going on for.

Hope that helps! Hope you enjoy your stay with Courtyard as ably!
