well here is the story... my friend have left america beside about 50k contained by credit card debt. he has no intentions on returning. he lived contained by america for about 12 years near a green card. he now lives surrounded by his home country of ireland. he is very worried that they will put him surrounded by jail for not paying. what will happend?

Answers: I'd inform him to stop worrying.

Chances are that as soon as his creditors realize he left the country (if they haven't already) later they likely won't put much energy into trying to collect.

Collecting debt in another country, especially overseas, is virtually impossible and not cost potent. Even if they could get a judgement here, it's massively unlikely they would find anyway to enforce it over there, and I don't see Irish tenet enforcement coming after him for unpaid debts in America.

At most, they might enjoy someone harass him for the debt, but thats it.

Different rules for different countries. Leaving the country does not remove his liability for the debt or within most cases the ability for the credit card company to purchase judgements. In fact depending on the law in Ireland relating to debt he could be within more trouble than if he had stayed contained by the US.
