Can they rest an overdue debt from 10 years ago? A recovery agency has purely sent me a letter saying I owe

A recovery agency has purely sent me a letter saying I owe them lb50.22 ..when I ring them up it turns out it were from a Top shop store card I had 12 years ago.. which be around the time I split from my Ex... I had to give my mission up as I had a one year old to look after... I did enjoy several store cards so I went to citizens advice and I arranged to clear each card a small amount each month... I thought I have payed them all back untill today when I recieved the epistle...they are giving me 7 days to pay in full if I dont they read aloud they will not hesitate to commence trial proceedings..I have had no parcels previous to this one I genuinely thought I had payed everyone pay for.. so how can I check that I actually do owe them the money they say I do?

Answers:    If it have been that long, the statute of limitations has probably passed. You should check your state or nouns laws. If they contact you again, request something in writing. If it is passed the statute, they cannot collect on this debt. They are hoping that you will rate that off because they spent the money on purchasing it from the creditor.

If you believe that you paid the debt contained by full back then, find paperwork to prove it and distribute it to both the recovery agency and creditor, and demand that the collections/recovery be overturned and a missive to prove it so that you can send it to the credit bureaus.

But on the other hand, it isn't adjectives that much money. So, if you just want to get it deal with and move on beside your life, just money for it. If you don't enjoy your own files showing that the debt was paid sour...then you can't prove anything. You apparently still owe it, so just compensate it.
Call them , tell them you will entail to verify this debt , so you will need something in writing since you believe they own made a mistake . contact an attorney , he can tell you exactly what you need to do .
Legal procedings from a debt ten years ago? (how much money approximately is that in US dollars?)

If it is not that much I wouldn't think they would want to spend foolishly their time on something that is so old and not unbelievably much.

I would talk to them and tell them this is the first mind you have gotten in ten years and they entail to show you some proof that you still owe them the money. Sometimes they will just drop it.
