Can I use my debit card to purchase stuff online? I was given a debit card from my guard and I was

I was given a debit card from my guard and I was told that I can use it as a credit card too. It looks exactly resembling a credit card, it's a Mastercard, it has 16 digit number and an expiration date as resourcefully. I used it in several retail stores as credit and the money be taken away from my bank story.

I am confused whether I can use it online to buy softwares etc. Please help, I saw a large amount online for limited time and I want to buy it.
buy it online. That's nearly the dumbest ask i've heard on here adjectives week
Yes
Yes you can. Your debit card has a visa or mastercard logo on it and to be exact what you put in the spot for what type of card you enjoy.
u can use it to buy stuff offline
Yes you can, I do all the time. As long as your card have been activate as a debit card, as well as a ATM card, afterwards you can use it just close to a credit card.
You said yourself it's a Mastercard. Do you just not know what a Mastercard is?

If the store uses Mastercard... and you hold a Mastercard... put two and two together please, I'm about full on stupid question for today.

And I also would like to put in that whomever said that debit cards don't have debt protection doesn't know what they are chitchat about, which I find repeatedly here. Most banks do present theft protection on it. Now if you guard at grandmas midwest corner bank, perchance it won't.
Yes you can, but you won't have one and the same fraud or theft protections. It's really a bit foolish to use a debit card online.
Yes I use mine all the time as a credit card.
Only if it really requires credit does it not work..resembling renting a car for instance...

Answers:    Yes, you can use it anywhere you can use a credit card. You should be exceedingly careful give or take a few using it online though. If someone gets a hold of that number and charges stuff on it, they will obliterate your checking account (this mechanism your checks could bounce!). It is very unyielding to get a hill to give you that money pay for.
With a normal credit card, they own a whole system contained by place for you to dispute charges. It is very much easier to win fraudulent charges removed from a credit card than it is with a debit card. Some bank have changed the road they work with fraudulent charges and stuff, but it might be too slow...you may not notice the fraud until your rent check bounces.
Yes, you can use it exactly close to a credit card, except that you must have the money within the bank to wager on up the purchase. That means you can brand name an online purchase, but be wary. Using your debit card for online purchases is riskier than using your credit card for online purchases. Easier to steal the numbers and use if you own a history of online purchases.
yes, if a card have a credit card logo, then it can be used as such, i shop online adjectives the time
Do not use it online. Since it is linked to your sandbank account/CASH, you don't want to put that number anywhere on the Internet.

You can get a credit card explicitly not a debit card for online pruchases. A standard credit card offers you protection against credit card fraud.

If anyone uses your debit card in need your permission, you're out the change until your bank does an "investigation" and it can pilfer months for them to get your money posterior for you.

Most banks read aloud that it's not a good model to use your ATM/debit card to purchase things online. ever. Don't do it.
the answer is yes. the only difference is when you use it as a debit the money is taken in a jiffy. when you choose it as a credit it take 2 or 3 days. some populace use this option surrounded by order to settle up something or buy today when they know they are going to have money tomorrow.
the merely thing is if you do not enjoy money in the mound at the time the payment is official you are going to have an overdraft levy, usually 30 bucks, so be care full because if this crop up several times then, when you apply for a credit card you are not going to get hold of the best interest. besides there's always a better traffic when you are going to buy something
Yes, you can use your debit card online. Just remember that you do not have duplicate "rights" that you would have if you used a regular Visa, Mastercard, or Amex. With Visa, MC, AMEX you can more easily contest charges and sometimes can extend your warranty. Deal singular with reputable online merchants.
Yes, it works equal as a credit card, but be careful some "crooked" site may hold on to trying to charge on you card. The debit card is connected to your bank side. so you're actually giving access to your edge account. Think first?
A debit card removes the money directly from your bank statement. When you use a credit card you are billed monthly and can pay the minimum, the entire charge or any amount surrounded by between. You can use your debit card to purchase software online but it will be removed directly (at that moment) from your bank sketch. Keep careful track or your may lapse up being overdrawn and that costs like mad of money. You should request a separate charge card.
YES... it's exactly like a credit card but the money comes right out of your checking commentary so make sure you enjoy the balance to cover the purchases. The just thing to keep under surveillance out for with a debit card is when you use it as a credit card at a retail store. You usually enjoy the option to select credit (meaning you sign) or debit (you enter Pin ID Number). Some bank charge you more when you use the debit option. That won't apply to online purchases but something to survey out for as those fees accumulate brisk. Also using the card as a credit card, sometimes you will be asked for what's called a CVV or Security Number from the stern of the card. Make a note of that number while you can still read it because it fade quickly and some vendor will need that to process through their guard to verify the card is in your possession. On a Visa/Mastercard it's a 3 digit code on the support by the signature panel... make a transcribe of it.
Yes.
To those poster who said there is no protection for debit cards. There is but you get to notify your bank faster.

According to the communication the banks must offer you provisional credit within 7 business days of the dispute. The bank have a total of 60 days to investigate but must convey you a status letter after 30 days. This applies surrounded by the U.S.

MasterCard & Visa also have a nought liability policy in the U.S.

A lot of bank do forget this rule in the U.S.

unauthorized transfers involving with the sole purpose your debit card number (not the loss of the card), you are liable only for transfers that take place after 60 days following the mailing of your wall statement containing the unauthorized use and before you report the loss.
