Banks / Credit Scores etc.? I want to apply for a bank account but I don't enjoy

I want to apply for a bank account but I don't enjoy much of a credit record. There's nothign negative - a short time ago nothing much at all.
I hold tried with First Direct and they refused me straight sour. Does anyone know which bank might be more lenient?

Try your local credit coalition. They are sometimes much more lenient on this type of situation.

You could try the Co-op. My sister in law be in the same situation as you and they own given her account. She only needed it to set up a direct debit and all she needed was a pound and a few documents.

Go to Natwest, and ask for a Step Current Account (they`ll try and receive you onto a savings account, but you inevitability to keep a minimum balance of lb50 to hang on to the account open).

You should have no problems getting this, and from in attendance you can work on building up a good credit history.

You can apply online, or its better to go into your local branch near photo id eg passport, driving licence etc, along with proof of address, such as utility bills (gas, river, electric). If these don't apply to you, contact the bank and they should be able to tender you an alternative.

The step account comes with a debit card, and online bank, but nothing to get you into debt resembling a cheque book etc.

You can use it as the first point to get a good credit rating, after you`ve used it for a while, you can apply for a credit card etc.

Try Abbey National, they are quite honourable. Stay away from B**c*s and N**t, they are very snobby and treat you like dirt! LLoyds TSB also fundamentally good and friendly.

all large street banks have to make a contribution you a basic account. The political affairs want everyone to get their benefits by direct payment so the bank have to give everyone accounts.

even with a unpromising credit rating you should get an account anywhere, in recent times not one with benefits like an overdraft etc. walk in to one of your local banks and only just c if someone nice is on the desk and talk to them and c what they can offer.

my partner and i set up a reciprocated account with barclays and even though we dont put profoundly in the've still been polite with us, but we have a really friendly personality on the desk in our local branch who'll do anything 4u and get u anything ur entitled to.

if u want a maestro / visa type card u might struggle with some banks. try viewing ur credt report online next to someone like experian (free trial) and c what they think u should b entitled to.

Citi bank are fairly lenient with in attendance scoring and there good to matter with.
But if you really want to search in need the hastle then go to:

and they will own something for everyone, just search near your criteria and let the loan search engin do adjectives the work.

I'd try for a current information in a building society like Nationwide.Otherwise one of the big 4 approaching Barclays. Some companies, I suspect First Direct may be one of them, cherry pick their clients, they only want someone who is going to pay a honourable salary in respectively month.
