Hello knowledgeable folks,

My wife and received two summons for duplicate medical bill from two different attorney's representing two different collection agencies. We would like to settle this debt out of court but we are unsure how to proceed. We dont want to money twice for the same bill, nor do we want to be garnish by one entity while settling with another. How do you recommend proceeding?

tell the collections agencies that you want to verify the debt. this will bring in them have to donate proof that they have a right to collect the debt within the first place. this should give you plenty info as to how to proceed. if one of the collections agencies is bogus, or is just trying to go and get your money you will find out. pay which ever story is verified by the original creditor, be it the hospital or other.
