10 year behind the times community college parking tickets.. do i enjoy to reimburse? I just got a message from a college i attended 10

I just got a message from a college i attended 10 years ago saying i owe $80 in 2 "parking tickets" (not NY state recognized) from sept of 1996, and if i do not discharge they will send me to collections. Is that legal? Isn't here some sort of statute of limitations on collecting bills like that. I don't remember if I paid them or not...it be so long ago.
Can something that old affect my credit?
This happened to someone I know with a phone company collections bill. After over ten years the company sold the recievable to a factoring company, a company that buys old debt and attempts to collect it. This showed up on his credit report but when he disputed the item and relayed that the resourceful debt was over 9 years the collection was removed.
i dont meditate after 10 years there is anything they can do

Answer:
Yeah, it should be a seven year statute. Have you checked to see if they show up on your credit report (s).
There are lots of scams out at hand now regarding ripened bills and trying to collect them.

You should have had a problem renewing your drivers' license if these be on your record. You could always progress to DMV to find out.

Either way, $80.00 isn't much if you just want to seize it over with, if you DO owe it, I would pay it.
i would not compensate that. if they are just now billing you it could be a scam. i would telephone call the collage personally (not the nuber on the letter) and ask them what it is for and to send you a statement. if it be going to go to collections they sould have sent it approaching 91/2 years ago
If they have your Social Security number, it could affect your Credit Score.

Tell them y ou want proof of the infractions and they will probably dismiss the whole piece.
